Detour Plan

Existing underpass closure and detour:

The existing vehicular and pedestrian underpass at Taylor Avenue will be fully closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Monday, August 13th and will remain closed for the remaining duration of the project. Detour routes will be posted to route traffic around the work site. Residents and visitors to the area should expect lane closures and other construction activity that will cause delays and general inconveniences.

Additional parking restrictions will be enacted near vicinity of the project site and along selective detour routes.

Safety Concerns:

It is always worth the effort to remind everyone that a construction site is a dangerous area, perhaps even more so during the hours the contractor is not actually working in the area. Please make a note to remind yourselves and your children not to attempt to enter the closed off construction areas and the dangers inherent in a construction zone that are present at all times. As a reminder, the use of cell phones while operating a motor vehicle in a construction zone is prohibited. Should there be a condition that is of particular concern or is considered hazardous, please feel free to contact the Key Project Personnel.

It is anticipated that the entire project will be substantially completed by the end of 2018. Preliminary construction activates, private utility relocates, tree removals and construction layout will be completed in August. The tunnel installation work is expected to take place between the months of September and November. Concrete roadway and sidewalk work will be completed in December. The final restoration of turf areas will be done in the spring of 2019.

The Village has retained Alfred Benesch & Company to perform construction oversight engineering for the project.
